TikTok Reveals Harmful Error For User Data: The popular video-sharing app TikTok has a bug that allows others to access users’ personal details.
Researchers at the cybersecurity company Checkpoint have identified a flaw in TikTok’s Find Friends feature.
This error can be used to access users’ phone numbers, profile settings and these details can also be used as a database for suspicious activity.
This weakness of TikTok can also affect nicknames, profile and profile photos, unique user ids, etc.
According to Checkpoint, this error could allow an attacker to obtain sensitive information and use it for suspicious activity.
On the other hand, TikTok says that so far there is no evidence that this error was used by hackers and it has been overcome through updates.
“Security & the privacy of the community is our top priority & we are grateful to Checkpoint for pointing out this weakness,” the company said.
“We will continue to strengthen our defenses, for which we are constantly upgrading our internal systems while also working with third parties,” a TikTok spokesman said.
